Eddie Hearn is looking to make Ryan Garcia face the winner of Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis.
Garcia is currently preparing to take on Oscar Duarte on December 2nd, 2023, which will be the boxer’s first fight under Derrick James at 140. Following his loss to Gervonta Davis at 135 pounds, Garcia moved up to fight at what was perceived as a comfortable weight. Meanwhile, Haney made a similar move by jumping up to junior welterweight having won all the belts at 135 pounds. And given that Haney is naturally a big fighter for the weight class, a move up also made sense. With that being said, Hearn lined up the winner of Haney v. Prograis for Garcia.
“I think the winner is likely to fight Ryan Garcia. Obviously, on the same platform on DAZN. It’ll be a massive fight. Haney-Prograis is flying. It’s selling really well. I can’t for December 9th, and we’ll see who comes out on top,” Hearn said
Such a fight is likely to generate a huge buzz, given Garcia’s huge social media following which resulted in over 1.2 million pay-per-view buys for the Davis fight. Meanwhile, the fight would give Garcia the chance to win his first world title. And facing either Prograis or Haney would require him to beat one of the best fighters around.
