Hearn: Taylor-Serrano ‘Biggest Female Fight Of All Time’
We can now add Eddie Hearn to the list of supporters for a potential clash between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The Matchroom Boxing promotor, who has secured both women on his roster, is extremely interested in putting these two women in a ring together. Following Serrano’s (38-1-1) unanimous decision victory over Heather Hardy in September, Hearn went on to say that her and Taylor (15-0) could main event a card inside Madison Square Garden. In fact, he has high hopes for the bout exceeding expectations.
Following Serrano’s TKO-win in a last-minute bout against Simone Da Silva last Thursday on the Demetrius Andrade v. Luke Keeler card, Hearn had nothing but praise for the multi-weight champion.
“Amanda Serrano is a beast,” Hearn stated to BoxingScene. “That fight with Katie Taylor is the biggest female fight of all time.”
This comes after promotor Lou Dibella, a big advocate for women’s boxing, stated a Taylor v. Serrano clash would be the “Super Bowl of women’s boxing.” Following her win on Thursday, Serrano is interested at fighting Taylor at 140.
After clearing out the lightweight division, Taylor beat Christina Linardatou via unanimous decision for the WBO Junior-Welterweight Championship. She also currently holds Lightweight Championships for the WBA, IBF, WBO , WBC and The Ring. Serrano last fought at welterweight in 2018, beating Yamila Esther Reynoso for the WBO Junior Welterweight Championship.
As far as when the fight would happen, Hearn is hoping for a late March/early April fight. With New York as the frontrunner to host the bout, he did not dismiss London as a possibility.
