Hearn: Wilder-Joshua Deal Done Within A Month
Following the press conference announcing Dillian Whyte’s next fight against former WBO world champion Joseph Parker, Eddie Hearn claimed that a deal for an Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fight is within a month of being made.
And while that may be good news, Hearn warned ESPN that its even closer for a fight between Joshua and WBA mandatory Alexander Povetkin.
“A deal with Povetkin is close. Very close,” Hearn said. “It’s either going to be Wilder then Povetkin or Povetkin then Wilder.
“I believe that a deal will be done within the next month or so for Joshua to fight Wilder, it’s just a case of whether we jump in with Povetkin first.”
Hearn decided to throw a little shade at Tyson Fury, who is signed to promotional rival, Frank Warren.
“It’s a joke of a fight, he’s been out for two years and he’s entitled to a freebie, but he wants three or four fights like that. I hope he doesn’t because we all want to see him back in the big fights.”
“He’s a quality heavyweight but he doesn’t really want to fight anybody yet.”
