Eddie Hearn has responded to Oscar De La Hoya’s recent back-and-forth on social media by making a point over the latter’s mental health.
Hearn and De La Hoya have been trading verbal shots despite the fact that they do collaborate on DAZN.
The tension initially started after De La Hoya reacted negatively over Canelo Alvarez’s departure from DAZN to sign a three-fight deal with the PBC.
Not only that, but De La Hoya brushed off Hearn’s suggestion that Edgar Berlanga could face the undefeated Mexican fighter Jaime Munguia.
#lonesomeEddie you couldn’t deliver @EdgarBerlangaJr to Canelo and now your throwing Munguías name? Good luck. 😂

But to top it all off, De La Hoya questioned Hearn’s promotional capabilities in light of the other promoters in the American market.
@EddieHearn blowing a shit load of other people’s money and showing shit for it is ludicrous. You think you can just come here and poach our fighters? Who have you built? Your a joke. Go back promoting darts 🎯 😂 at least @LEllerbe and @BobArum know what they are doing.

And now Hearn has suggested that De La Hoya’s comments are bordering on an obsession.
“It is getting to the point, now, with Oscar, I’m starting to get a little bit fearful in terms of my own safety, in terms of that fanaticism for him.
“Stalker’s’ a strong word, but I think—he’s stalking me. What I’m fearful of is walking into Oscar De La Hoya’s house and there’s five or six interviews paying simultaneously. I don’t know what he’s doing. It’s just scary.
“This is the kind of interview that gets played back when something bad happens. I warned you all about this guy because this happens in this celebrity world when you get these crazed fans. I think someone needs to talk to Oscar because I’m concerned about my safety,” Hearn
The disagreements are only going to play into the hands of Showtime and the PBC who have set up the biggest events in boxing this year.
And if Hearn desires to make significant headway in the US, then keeping De La Hoya on his side will be key.
