Heavy Hitters: Daley-Ward Set for Bellator 170

Bellator is looking to start 2017 off with a stacked show: Paul Daley will return at Bellator 170 against Brennan Ward. They will share that Los Angeles card with the highly-anticipated matchup between Tito Ortiz and Chael Sonnen.

The fight was announced on ESPN by Bellator President Scott Coker.

Ward (14-4) last fought at Bellator 163 in front of a hometown crowd in Connecticut. Buoyed by the raucous crowd, Ward knocked out Saad Awad in the first round. The 28-year-old has won five of his last six fights and has become one of the most exciting fighters in the promotion.

Daley (38-14-2) had been scheduled to fight on Bellator 163 as well, but was pulled from the fight last-minute because of issues surrounding his tough weight cut. In his last fight, he lost a unanimous decision to now welterweight champion Douglas Lima.

In addition to Sonnen vs. Ortiz, Bellator 170 will also feature Ralek Gracie’s return to MMA against renowned knockout-artist Hisaki Kato.
