Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury Ready For Anything

Recently, it looked as if Team Fury weren’t on the same page. Top Rank’s Bob Arum is willing to wait until 2021 to host a Tyson Fury fight, while Frank Warren and Fury appear to think differently. Fury and his team have made sure to share their point across the globe.

Warren elaborated on Fury’s frustrations with Arum following talks of postponing the Deontay Wilder trilogy fight again. Currently, the two are scheduled to face off in December.

“Tyson has made it very clear to me a couple of days ago that he wants to fight again before the end of the year and I’ve got to give him a fight by the end of the year,” Warren stated, via Boxing Scene.

“What you’ve got to look at as well is that fighters like Tyson have been in lockdown since the end of February, so by December, it’s ten months out of the ring. There are a lot of fighters who need something to aim for and this isn’t very good for them mentally.”

Fury (30-0-1) last fought in February, facing Wilder (42-1-1) in a rematch from their 2018 bout. The lineal Heavyweight Champion would knock down Wilder multiple times and had him bleeding as he was chasing him around the ring. Eventually, Wilder’s corner threw in the towel, and Fury took home the WBC Heavyweight Title.

Several factors could come into play when it comes to Wilder-Fury III. Wilder’s biceps surgery and COVID-19 come to mind. If Wilder isn’t available, then interim WBC Heavyweight Champion Dillian Whyte could be ready to fight. As the number one fighter by the WBC since 2017, Whyte is currently scheduled to face the winner of the fight no matter what. Regarding Arum’s requests fo fans in the stands, Warren understands that may not happen.

“If that’s what it is, that’s what it is,” Warren went on to say regarding closed events with Fury. “That’s the world we’re in. I don’t want him fighting behind closed doors, for me he’s the biggest box office out there.

“If we can’t deliver the fight with Wilder, then it’s something we’ve got to look at. The problem is the expectation levels and the last fight was the highest-grossing heavyweight fight in Vegas. We’ve got to somehow get this income to make it work and if it doesn’t, then we’ve got to do something else.”

Fury has been with Queensberry and MTK for a long time. Both he and Warren have a good relationship going, and Fury recently signed with Top Rank. Following a comeback in and out of the ring, Warren can’t help but praise Fury. It will help with future fights.

“My job from day one since the day he came in is to make sure we do the best for Tyson and we have done the best for Tyson in every way,” said Warren. “He’s been great for me and I’ve been great for him and he’s turned his whole life around, he’s in a good place.

“For him to remain in a good place, he has to be active.”
