Heavyweight Prospect Mowry Off Of Bellator 239 Card

A bright star will have to wait for his time to shine, as Steve Mowry is off of the Bellator 239 card. It was announced that Mowry (7-0) will miss his bout against Rudy Schaffroth. The 27-year-old made the announcement on his Instagram page.

“Hey guys. Due to a health concern I won’t be fighting this weekend,” Mowry stated. “I’m hoping the issue will resolve soon and I’ll be rescheduled in a few weeks.”

Making his debut for Bellator in 2018, Mowry took out Ben Moa via submission. He has since won his last two fights via submission; against Darion Abbey and most recently Gokhan Saricam. Debuting in 2016, Mowry has beating all of his opponents via some form of finish.

As a result of the late notice, Schaffroth (6-1) could not find an opponent and is off the card. Bellator 239 takes place on Friday, February 21 from inside the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main event will be Ed Ruth facing Yaroslav Amosov in a welterweight bout.
