Heinisch Signs A New Deal With The UFC

Looking to start fresh in a familiar spot, Ian Heinisch recently announced he has signed a new deal with the UFC. The four-fight deal isn’t the only news he told The Score on Monday. Heinisch is also changing gyms.

Heinisch (13-3) has spent a majority of his time with Colorado’s Factory X gym in Colorado. In the interview, he stated he moving to Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand.

“I felt like there was so many distractions out here. The environment was just so different,” Heinisch stated when talking about Factory X. “The elevation just didn’t really agree with my body. … I got good, like, lung power, but my body would never recover here. I was always, like, in pain.

“I went out (to Thailand) and I felt so good. The training was so good. … It was a real fighter life.”

Fighting for SCL, the World Series of Fighting and Legacy Fighting Alliance, Heinisch was 3-1 with LFA, winning the LFA Middleweight Title in the process. He joined the UFC during Dana White’s Contender Series 15. Beating Justin Sumter, the 31-year-old won his UFC debut against Cezar Ferreira back in November 2018. Since then, he is 1-2, currently on a two-fight losing streak. Back at UFC 245 in December, Heinisch lost to Omari Akhmedov via unanimous decision.

Heinisch is hoping everything can work out in regards to a move once the coronavirus pandemic comes to a halt. He is also hoping a change in scenery will help his chances within the octagon.
