Henry Cejudo Hands Demetrious Johnson First Loss Since 2011 – August 4, 2018 (This Day In MMA History)

Henry Cejudo snatched the UFC flyweight title from Demetrious Johnson, who was then nabbed as a dominant champion in UFC history. It was Johnson’s first loss in nearly seven years in a rematch with Cejudo at the co-main event of UFC 227.

Cejudo (then 13-2) narrowly edged Johnson (then 27-3-1) via split decision. After five aggressive rounds, he managed to top Johnson, thanks to some scoring takedowns.

“To defeat the man, the myth, the legend, Demetrious Johnson, it feels good,” Cejudo, 31, said after the fight.

The 31-year-old is also a US Olympic gold medalist, which he earned in 2008. His win on August 4, 2018 made his just the second flyweight champion.
