Henry Cejudo Pleads With Dana White Again For Chance To Fight Alexander Volkanovski

Henry Cejudo wants a shot at Alexander Volkanovski, and he said he wouldn’t cancel.

Cejudo’s offer comes after Max Holloway withdrew – due to aggravating an old injury — from the anticipated fight against reigning featherweight champion Volkanovski. Cejudo was quick to send a message to UFC President Dana White.

“Hey danawhite give me a shot at Alex. I would never cancel. I’m Mexican and we don’t believe in pulling out of anything,” Cejudo posted on Twitter.

Cejudo, an Olympic gold winner, was once regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but White previously expressed he isn’t too fond of a Cejudo-Volkanovski matchup.

“You’ve been off all this time and you want to come back and fight Volkanovski and jump the line and jump over Max and all these other guys that have been there? It’s a tough conversation,” White said at a press conference last year.

Cejudo retired from mixed martial arts in 2020.

He most recently fought at UFC 249, when he won a second-round TKO victory against Dominick Cruz to retain his bantamweight championship at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

UFC 272, which will take place on March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is now without a main event.
