Here Are The Three Fights George Kambosos Jr Is Eyeing For First Title Defense
George Kambosos Jr is the man in demand after upsetting the odds to clinch the WBA/IBF/WBO/WBC franchise titles from Teofimo Lopez.
Now for his return to the ring before his home crowd in Australia, Kambosos is the one calling the shots to mark his first title defense.
“I love the [Devin] Haney fight, and I love the WBC piece. I love the [Vasily] Lomachenko fight. And Tank Davis as well,” Kambosos told Fox Sports Australia.
“I want to see him back in the ring first. We’re sitting here negotiating, making sure they’ll come to Australia first. That’s the most important thing, that they’ll travel down. I know for a fact that Haney and Lomachenko will. It’s going to be in May. May is going to be a great time.”
Top Rank has been pushing for a showdown with Lomachenko and the Ukrainian himself is eager to fly to Australia to make the dream fight happen. Moreover, Matchroom Sports’ Eddie Hearn has been trying to get Haney the title fight as well.
Haney, 23, has called out Kambosos on Twitter where he agreed to get the second dose of the COVID vaccine to abide by Australia’s travel rules. The undefeated boxing prodigy also took a jibe at the Australian star, claiming that he is intentionally avoiding him.
Yo @georgekambosos we making this fight happen or what? i’m agreeing to all you’re terms weather its the vaccine or the travel. Its starting to look like some ducking going on! @EddieHearn
