Herring-Frampton Reportedly Set For June
A promise was made several months ago by Jamel Herring, and now, he is delivering on it. According to BoxingScene, Herring will defend his WBO Super-Featherweight Title against Carl Frampton on June 13. The bout will take place in Frampton’s home of Belfast.
“I’m really looking forward to that fight,” Top Rank chairman Bob Arum stated to BoxingScene. “Frank is going to announce it shortly and I am looking forward to being in Belfast on June 13 and then getting on a plane and coming to London where my guy [Kubrat] Pulev is going to put a whipping on Anthony Joshua.”

Long Island’s Herring (21-2) won the WBO Super-Featherweight Title from Masayuki Ito back in May via unanimous decision. He then defended the belt against Lamont Roach in November, also via unanimous decision. Dating back to 2018, “Semper Fi” is on a five-fight win streak.
Frampton (27-2) is a former WBA and IBF Super-Bantamweight Champion who has been fighting since 2009. “The Jackal” beat Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA belt back in 2016 but lost the rematch and the title in 2017. He then won three in a row, winning the WBO interim Featherweight Title in the process. Frampton lost to Josh Warrington for the IBF Featherweight Title via unanimous decision back in 2018.
The 33-year-old was meant to face Emmanuel Dominguez in August 2019, but a freak hand injury at the hotel he was staying at forced him out of action. He returned to action in November, beating Tyler McCreary via unanimous decision.

Herring made a promise to fight Frampton in Belfast once he recovered from his injury. The last time Frampton fought there was against Luke Jackson in 2018. Inside Windsor Park, Frampton won the bout via TKO.
The bout is expected to be promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, with an announcement making the fight official due at some point this week.
