Higgins Claims Parker Is Unfazed By Spotlight
As it gets closer to the biggest fight in his career, Joseph Parker isn’t focused on anything else than becoming undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Parker faces Anthony Joshua on March 31st, and Parker’s promoter, and when speaking with Sky Sports, David Higgins knows that his fighter’s main goal isn’t the money or fame, but attaining a moment unseen since the 1990’s.
“It’s not about fame or money, but they are by-products of doing your best and succeeding. But really, it’s a lofty goal, shoot for the stars and try to unify the division.
“No one has really done that since Lennox Lewis and so I think that will be very motivating.”
Throughout the negotiation process, both sides have lobbed shots at one another in the media, with the Parker team pulling publicity stunts in an attempt to force a deal from Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter.
And while Joshua may have let Parker under his skin, the man who has sold over 100,000 seats in 2017 believes that Parker cannot handle the pressure of being a top boxing star.
Higgins, who himself is known to be audacious, claims his fighter will take this as just another fight.
Higgins told Sky Sports that, “whether it’s in the North Pole or Timbuktu, or the Millennium Stadium, the preparation will be the same, the mindset will be the same.
“One thing we know about Joseph is that side of it won’t faze him. He’s got a job to do, he knows what it is, he’ll take it very seriously.
