Holland Out Of Quick Turnaround Bout Against Rodriguez

If it felt as though Kevin Holland competing for the second time in just a few weeks was too good to be true, you were correct.

MMA Junkie was the first to report that Holland’s upcoming bout this weekend against Daniel Rodriguez has been nixed. Holland (17-5) suffered an injury while training, forcing him out of the bout.

Holland was looking for his second win in 14 days. 4-1 in his last five, Holland just fought at UFC on ESPN 8 in Jacksonville, beating Anthony Hernandez via TKO after only 39 seconds into round one. “Trail Blazer” recently responded to the news on his Instagram story:

“Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to the scrap. I’ve done this rehab before and I hope to run through it as I did last time. We will be back. First thing first, getting back healthy.”

Rodriguez (11-1) is on a six-fight win streak and won his first major UFC fight back in February. In round two he submitted Tim Means via guillotine choke.

As of now, it is unknown who the UFC has pegged for Rodriguez’s new opponent. Stay tuned as more information should be revealed.

As of now, the main event of UFC on ESPN 9 features Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns in a welterweight bout. The event is scheduled to take place inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Nevada. White was confident the promotion would be returning, however, this all depends on an upcoming ruling by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
