Holloway-Edgar Headlines UFC 218

Max Holloway will make the first defense of his undisputed featherweight title over one of the division’s most grizzled veterans, Frankie Edgar.

The matchup headlines UFC 218 in Detroit on Dec. 2, ESPN’s Bret Okamoto reported on Tuesday night.

Holloway (18-3) became the interim featherweight champion last December by defeating Anthony Pettis. He went on to unify the titles with an impressive third-round TKO over former long-time champion Jose Aldo in June of this year.

Edgar (22-5-1) got his last title shot against Aldo at UFC 200 last year, losing a unanimous decision. Since then he has defeated Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez. The former lightweight champion, Edgar has only lost to Aldo in the featherweight division.
