Holloway-Edgar In The Works For UFC 240

After two cancelled attempts, Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway will finally face off for the featherweight title at UFC 240.

The showdown, first reported by ESPN, is set to take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on July 27th, marking Holloway’s first fight at 145 since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 236 in April for the interim lightweight title.

Edgar and Holloway were scheduled to fight at UFC 218 and UFC 222 in 2017 and 2018 respectively, with Edgar being injured prior to 218, and Holloway being injured prior to 222, opening the door for Brian Ortega to knock out Edgar, yielding him a title shot in 2018.

This will mark Edgar’s third attempt to become featherweight champion, being bested in two-prior attempts against Jose Aldo.
