Holloway Hopes To Defend At UFC 226
After the strangest week in his professional career, punctuated by being ruled “medically unfit” to fight at UFC 223, Max Holloway is hoping to defend his featherweight title at UFC 226.
Holloway, who was scheduled as the last minute opponent for Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223, following Tony Ferguson getting injured, is hoping to face top contender Brian Ortega at the July 7th event headlined by UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defending against Daniel Cormier.
Holloway, who was also supposed to fight on March 3rd against Frankie Edgar, before an ankle injury took him out of that fight, was replaced by Ortega who pulled the upset and earned the title shot.
Holloway considers Las Vegas as the “ninth island,” and if the Hawaii native cannot fight at home, Vegas is the perfect place for him on what may be the biggest card of 2018.
