Max Holloway (27-9) has cautioned against writing off Conor McGregor (22-6) ahead of their welterweight rematch at UFC 329 on July 11, despite it being Conor’s first fight in five years.
Holloway enters the bout looking to bounce back from his March defeat to Charles Oliveira, in which he lost the BMF title. Holloway welcomed the move to 170lbs after years of difficult weight cuts at featherweight and lightweight. McGregor, who has not fought since breaking his leg in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021, defeated Holloway in their first encounter back 2013 in a featherweight clash, despite suffering an ACL injury during the fight; although Holloway was just 21-years-old at the time. Holloway has since become one of UFC’s premiere fighters and opened up as a massive favorite against Conor, however Holloway acknowledged that the Irishman’s power at welterweight remains a genuine threat.
“It’s a hard fight. Conor’s still dangerous. You’d be dumb as hell to think he’s not,” Holloway
