Holloway Responds To McGregor Fight Rumors

Max Holloway (27-9) has addressed speculation linking him to a rematch with Conor McGregor (22-6) at UFC 329 on July 11, admitting the fight appeals to him — but confirming no formal offer has arrived yet.

UFC 329 closes out International Fight Week at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with no main event officially confirmed. McGregor is targeting a return to the Octagon for the first time since suffering a broken leg in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier in 2021 at UFC 264, and Holloway has emerged as the frontrunner to welcome him back.

The pair met once before, in August 2013, with McGregor taking the win. Holloway has made it clear he wants to avenge the loss, while admitting he is in training without having received an offer: “We have history. If somebody’s got one over me, I want to get him back. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge, but having history with the dude, being able to get one back would be cool.”

Holloway also arrives with his own point to prove. His last outing ended in a unanimous decision loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 in March, which cost him the BMF title, and he is eager to move past it quickly. For now though, Holloway is waiting: “I’m seeing all the talk that you guys see. I really didn’t hear anything yet — but that wouldn’t be a bad time.”
