Holly Holm (34-4-3, 9 KOs) fell to a controversial split decision defeat against Stephanie Han (13-0, 3 KOs) in their rematch, failing to claim the WBA lightweight title despite landing many of the harder shots throughout, with two judges scoring it 96-94 in Han’s favour and one calling it a 95-95 draw.
Holm carried a visible cut over her eye from the second round and landed many of the harder shots throughout, but Han came out on top on the scorecards in a thrilling contest that went the full distance. Han has now won both meetings between the two by decision, their first fight having been decided early after an accidental headbutt forced it to the scorecards. Han wasted no time in calling out her preferred next opponent. “The next fight I want, I know all the fighters want her: Katie Taylor. She beat my sister, Jennifer Han — I want to have this revenge fight for her.”
