Holly Holm Seeks To Make Return At UFC 300, But Not Against The Fighter She Wants

Miesha Tate turned down a rematch with Holly Holm for a potential fight at UFC 300.

That is according to Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez. Tate is coming off a vital win over Julia Avila at UFC Austin. She submitted Avila in the third round via a rear naked choke. Before the fight, Tate indicated she could retire if she came up short. After the victory, Tate was open to facing Holm in a rematch.

“I absolutely smashed her on the ground. … So anyway, to answer your question, I think it would be fun to run that one back,” Tate said

Their only meeting occurred in 2016 at UFC 196 when Tate stopped Holm with a rear naked choke in the final round. A fight at UFC 300 was mentioned, but Holm’s manager has ruled that out for now.

“She wants nothing to do with Holly. She’s turned down the fight three times already. We are looking for someone tougher… We are hopeful we will be on UFC 300. No opponents have been brought up yet,” Fresquez revealed

Holm’s last fight was a loss to Mayra Bueno Silva in July after she was stopped in the second round with a guillotine choke. The result was overturned after Silva failed a test. But Holm did not get a title shot for the vacant bantamweight title, as Silva will face Raquel Pennington for the belt at UFC 297. That has left Holm with things to consider, but aim is to come back at UFC 300.

“We are hopeful we will be on UFC 300. No opponents have been brought up yet,” Fresquez said
