Hooker vs. Perez Added to Kovalev-Ward Undercard

In a collaborative effort on October 14th, Main Events, Roc Nation and HBO announced that unbeaten junior welterweight sensation Maurice Hooker will square off against Darleys Perez in one of the featured televised undercard bouts on the massive Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward event on November 19th.

The unbeaten junior welterweight sports an impressive 21-0-2 record with 16 wins coming by way of knockout.  Hooker is 27 years old and hails from Dallas, Texas.  Maurice "Mighty Mo’"  Hooker is the number 14th ranked junior welterweight and he looks to rise in the rankings when he takes on Darleys Perez.

The Colombian native Perez is 33-2-1, 21 wins by KO and sees this bout on the Ward/Kovalev card as his chance to gain more stateside notoriety. Perez has won his last three fights and looks to continue his win streak November 19th at Hooker’s expense.

Perez is six years older than Hooker and gives up a ten inch reach advantage.  Both fighters stand in the orthodox fighting stance  so this should favor the long reach and sharp jab of hooker.  Each fighter has power in their hands as both fighters are coming off of impressive knockout wins in their last contests.  This should be lively action packed fight, a worthy prelude to the main event that will take place later in the evening.
