Horn Survives Ninth, Gets Win Over Zerafa

In the ninth round of his last fight against Michael Zerafa, Jeff Horn was stopped after being knocked down twice. In a rematch where his career was essentially on the line, the ninth round was a major stand for the former welterweight champion of the world.

Unlike his August loss where his body failed him due to poor diet and preparation, Horn’s conditioning and pressure were in rare form against Zerafa, who threw the kitchen sink at Horn in an attempt to turn the tide inside the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

That last-ditch effort by Zerafa was his downfall, as Horn found an opening to drop his opponent twice in the last 35 seconds of the round.

When they reached the scorecards, one judge scored the contest 94-94, but Horn took two scorecards 98-90 and 97-92, along with WBA and WBO regional titles off Zerafa for the majority decision win.
