How long will Francis Ngannou stay at UFC? Fighter’s contract details confuse fans

The MMA fraternity on social media is quite stunned to see the number of fights left on the contract of UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou. The Predator has apparently just one fight to go as per his contract with the organization. While fans were worried about the end of the Ngannou era, others suggested he has leverage as the champion.

According to the UFC, a champion is auto-renewed until someone dethrones them. In other words, a UFC fighter can’t leave the company as a champion without retiring. And even that doesn’t release the individual from their contract.

It is no secret that the UFC management and Ngannou’s camp are not seeing eye to eye with each other. UFC President Dana White and the champion’s manager were seen engaging in verbal spat over social media.

The Predator’s team is unhappy with the interim title fight that the organization has booked between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane. They claim that the UFC’s decision to hold a showdown for the interim strap is unfair to Ngannou, who was crowned the champion merely three months ago.

So it’s all good for the heavyweight crown holder at the organization unless he loses his next fight to the winner of the Gane vs Lewis clash.
