Hughie Fury: Klitschko Will Stop Joshua
Hughie Fury, undefeated heavyweight contender, has studied Wladimir Klitschko long before his cousin Tyson Fury dethroned him last year. With Klitschko now poised for a title fight against young champion Anthony Joshua, Fury predicts that Klitschko will get back to the top and knock Joshua out.
Klitschko and IBF champion Joshua will fight on April 29th at Wembley Stadium. The WBA and IBO championships will also be on the line.
Klitschko, who will be 41 years old when he fights Joshua, has been the far less active fighter over the past year. Joshua is coming off a knockout victory over Eric Molina on Dec. 10.
Hughie Fury, however, believes that Joshua does not have the same skills as his cousin Tyson that were able to defeat Klitschko. He believes the British champion is fighting the veteran too soon.
“It was an easy fight,” Fury said of Joshua’s fight with Eric Molina (per BoxingScene). “Molina looked beaten before he got in the ring. He looked terrified in there.”
As far as Joshua’s next fight, Hughie predicts him to be knocked out by Klitschko in “six or seven rounds”.
Meanwhile, Hughie looks forward to getting a title shot at new WBO champion Joseph Parker. The New Zealand heavyweight won the title by defeating Andy Ruiz in a close decision in December. Hughie has his eye on Parker, but also on WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
“I am the mandatory position now with the WBO so it’s looking likely it could be him,” he said. “It’s also looking like Deontay Wilder, so we’re in the mix of these two fights at the moment. I feel great, so the next fight is going to be for the world championship whoever it is going to be.”
