Hunt Only Wants Top Contenders
After his loss to Curtis Blaydes, Mark Hunt has only two fights left on his UFC Contract, and according to the “Super Samoan,” he is looking to make them count.
In an interview with the Sporting News, Hunt, claims that a potential fight this summer against Francis Ngannou would make sense.
“We’re looking to see if I can get Ngannou for August in Hawaii – that’d be great,” Hunt claimed this week.
“Ngannou would be good for me, or (Alexander) Volkov, who just beat Fabricio – if he’s still available.”
“I’m just trying to get someone higher than me. I’ve got two fights left, so I’m seeing if I can get Ngannou. I don’t know if they’ve confirmed Hawaii, but it’d be a great match…see who shoots for the takedown first.”
Hunt also claimed that he was offered a fight for a UFC event in June, but turned it down since it was not against a top five contender. And while he just came off a loss, Hunt feels he should be fighting top contenders like Ngannou, former opponent Fabricio Werdum, or even a rematch with Curtis Blaydes.
“Even Werdum, I want that rematch, but Ngannou would be a better match.”
