Hunt vs. Lewis Targeted for UFC New Zealand

Derrick "The Black Beast" Lewis is looking to continue his ascent up the heavyweight ladder. Riding a six-fight winning streak, Lewis is now reportedly targeted to face heavyweight staple Mark Hunt in the UFC’s return to New Zealand on June 11.

MMAJunkie reported that the heavyweight tilt is being targeted as the main event for the UFC Fight Night 110 card.

Lewis (18-4, 9-2 UFC) last fought Travis Browne in the main event of UFC: Halifax last month. After suffering some adversity in the opening frame, Lewis went on to knock out the top-10 heavyweight in the second round.

Hunt (12-11-1, 7-5-1 UFC) last fought at UFC 209, where he was knocked out by Alistair Overeem in the third round of their fight. Hunt is also in the middle of a lawsuit against the UFC and Brock Lesnar stemming from Lesnar’s failed drug test ahead of his UFC 200 fight with Hunt last July.

No fights have been officially announced for the card, which will take place at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
