Hunter Feels He’s Joshua’s Best Option
Much like Debbie Harry, Michael Hunter is waiting by the telephone, as the American boxer feels he’s the best opponent for unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Hunter, who is one of six fighters on Eddie Hearn’s shortlist to face Joshua on June 1st, feels with his ties to Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN make him the most viable option.
“It’s an exciting time to be Michael Hunter,” the fighter told Starsport in the third person. “I’m just patiently waiting. I’m ready to take it if they give me the opportunity.
“I’m definitely taking it. I just hope I get it.
“Eddie Hearn and Joshua definitely know I’m ready to take the fight.
“They have to pick the right opponent and that is what I am,” Hunter boasts, while fighters Adam Kownacki and Luis Ortiz have bowed out due to other offers or “lowball” offers from Joshua’s side.
“Some of these guys don’t want to fight. I’m a rising star, I work with Matchroom and DAZN, so I’m a better fit than the others anyways.”
Wladimir Klitschko’s former sparring partner has only one blemish on his record, a decision loss to former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in 2017, thinks he can pull off the unlikely upset of Joshua.
“I wouldn’t be looking for this fight if I didn’t think I could win,” said Hunter.
“I will be a tougher challenger than Jarrell Miller… He needs more than six weeks to prepare for what I can do and to figure me out. I would pose a lot more problems.”
