IBF Orders Joshua-Pulev
Kubrat Pulev will be the next man to challenge Anthony Joshua for the unified world heavyweight championship unless Joshua is willing to relinquish the IBF world heavyweight title.
The news comes just under a week after Joshua regained the title from Andy Ruiz Jr. in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, which was allowed by the governing body as long as Pulev was granted a title shot before May 30th, of 2020.
“We are elated to be finally getting our shot at the title,” Epic Sports’ John Wirt, Pulev’s co-promoter told BoxingScene.com. “We want to thank Daryl [Peoples, president and CEO of IBF], Carlos [Ortiz Jr., IBF Championship Chairman) and the rest of our friends at the IBF for this early Christmas present.”
“I have already spoken with Eddie and Bob (Arum, Pulev’s co-promoter) today,” confirmed Wirt. “We are looking forward to working together to make this fight.
“Kubrat is in great shape already, and I guarantee this is gonna be one heck of a fight!”
“I look forward to facing Anthony Joshua in his next bout, as the IBF has ordered,” noted Pulev. “The result is going to be different (than the Ruiz rematch), I guarantee it!”
