IBF Orders Purse Bid for Spence-Ocampo

The IBF has ordered a purse bid for welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and his mandatory IBF challenger, Carlos Ocampo.

As reported by Bad Left Hook, the two sides have not reached an agreement as of yet, but they have until March 6 to come to an agreement.

Spence last fought in January, stopping Lamont Peterson in his first defense as IBF champion. Spence called out WBA/WBC champion Keith Thurman following the bout, but a unification bout between the two looks unlikely until late 2018 or 2019.

Ocampo has won all 22 of his professional bouts thus far, with 13 of them coming by knockout. His most notable wins include bouts against Jorge Paez Jr. and Charlie Navarro. The title bout with Spence will represent a big step-up in competition for the 22-year-old.
