Impact Network Airing Raging Babe’s ‘Philly Special’ On March 27

Betting on herself, Michell Rosado has managed to build a small empire when it comes to the regional fight scene. Just like most entities, they grow over time. That is exactly what is happening with the Raging Babe founder and promotor, as over 86 million people will get a chance to see her latest event.

Impact Network will be the home of the March 27 “Philly Special” card taking place inside the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia. The main event of the card features Stevie Ortiz v. Damon Allen. On the line will be Ortiz’s State Lightweight Title and the vacant USBC Lightweight Title.

“Impact found room in their schedule to bring Philly Special to its viewers,” said Rosado via a press release. “Lou [DiBella] brought them to the table. I’m grateful that he believed in the show so much, and grateful that he believed in and went to bat for me, and felt so strongly enough it needed to be televised, to make this connection. I think it’s a mutually beneficial opportunity.”

DiBella Entertainment is teaming up with the Raging Babe brand for a trial run. This is years in the making, and the past few months have been especially rewarding. Rosado recently launched “Boxing Moms”, which focuses on the figures in the fighters lives who take care of them the most. It has been rumored that FOX Sports, ESPN, Showtime and DAZN would be one of the entities to carry Rosado’s programming. Up until now, Raging Babe-promoted events have been handled via livestream.

Lou DiBella, who represents Ortiz, has become one of the premier supporters of women within the boxing world. From Amanda Serrano, Alicia Napoleon to Heather Hardy, DiBella has helped promote those within the industry to be treated as equals.

Impact is featured on a number of cable providers, which can even be used on the lowest package possible. Founded in 2010, Impact’s goal is to inspire local communities, which correlates to the goal of Rosado for putting a spotlight on the local fighters on her roster.

“What makes Impact special is that it’s so accessible to people,” said Impact Boxing Executive Producer Steven Marcano. “When DAZN has a card, you have to have a credit card and account to watch. When Showtime has a card, you have to have premium cable to watch.  All you need to watch boxing on Impact is the lowest tier cable package. We are in over 86 million homes. We’re making sure that everyone who has basic cable has access to good programming, good sports, and good boxing.

“I think calling a show a ‘club show’ is old school,” continued Marcano. “If you take the same show and put it on Showtime, it’s no longer a club show – it’s a Showtime show. Raging Babe has great fights and an excellent game plan–they just need a little more attention and a platform to showcase their events. It’s a smaller venue with limited distribution – add television and it’s a sold out show in millions of homes, not a club show.”

Ortiz (11-0) is a true Philadelphia local. The 26-year-old won his last fight against Alejandro Salinas back in September via majority decision. He faces Damon Allen (16-1-1), another Philly native. The 27-year-old is on a one-fight win streak, beating Dieumerci Nzau back in October via unanimous decision.

The Philly Special begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on March 27. It will be available on the network at 9 p.m. ET. You can purchase tickets through 2300arena.com or by calling 267-273-0945.

“We’re looking forward to working with Raging Babe on this and future cards,” Marcano stated. “Michelle is thorough, and gets the job done.”
