Naoya Inoue is in line to defend his Undisputed Super Bantamweight Title against Sam Goodman on December 24 in Tokyo, Japan.
Inoue would be making a third defense of his title after he became undisputed by stopping Marlon Tapales last year. The win made him undisputed in a second weight class, as he joined Terence Crawford in achieving that in the four-belt era. Inoue is coming off a win against TJ Doheny in his last fight. He also stopped Luis Nery in the fight before.Â

After the Doheny win, Bob Arum confirmed that Inoue plans on having one more fight in Japan before fighting in the United States next year. Goodman is 19-0, with eight knockouts, as he is the WBO mandatory. He is coming off a win against Thachtana Luangphon. He has also beaten Doheny, but this would be his biggest step up. And with only eight knockouts to his name, fans expected a one-sided victory for Inoue.
