Inoue’s Possible Future Fight

Eddie Hearn says early discussions are underway for a showdown between undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (32-0) and unified super flyweight champion Jesse Rodriguez (23-0).

Hearn described the matchup as “inevitable,” provided both fighters continue their recent success. Inoue will defend his undisputed crown against Junto Nakatani on May 2. Meanwhile, “Bam” is set to jump one weight class to bantamweight (118 lbs) to challenge Antonio Vargas for the WBA title on June 13.

A victory for Rodriguez would make him a three-division champion and place him just one weight class away from Inoue’s current division. Hearn suggested the fight might not happen immediately after the Vargas bout but could be finalized within the next “two or three fights.”

“There have been some early preliminary conversations about Inoue against Bam, and I do think that fight is inevitable,” Hearn said
