Ion Cutelaba Vs. Ryan Spann In Talks For February UFC Fight Night Card
According to MMA Island, a booking between Ion Cutelaba and Ryan Spann is being finalized.
If it becomes official, it will be added to a UFC Fight Night card on February 26, which has yet to have a specific location.
Cutelaba and Spann are currently around the top of the 205-pound division in the UFC.
Cutelaba, who is now rated No. 15, has the possibility to rise up a few positions with a win, whereas Spann is ranked No. 13.
Anthony Smith had previously beaten Spann in a high-profile battle in September.
His defeat to the last championship contender was supposed to last five rounds, but only lasted four. Smith won the battle using ground and pound strikes.
Spann’s loss was his second since joining the UFC roster in 2018. It was also his first time competing in a UFC main event.
He made a statement earlier in 2021 when he defeated Misha Cirkunov in one round.
Cutelaba won his first fight in more than two years, going the distance with Devin Clark and winning by decision.
After a rough stretch, he lost two fights against Magomed Ankalaev and had a draw with Dustin Jacoby.
Cutelaba also had five separate engagements canceled during that time. Cutelaba’s most recent victory put him back in the winning column. His UFC record is now five victories and five losses.
