‘Iron’ Mike Tyson Weighs In On Jaime Foxx’s Upcoming Portrayal Of The Boxing Legend

When diving into a serious movie role, sometimes the actor submerges themselves into the role. It can get very emotional, resulting in them not being recognized. Awards have been given for such achievements. While wary, that is how Mike Tyson feels about an upcoming film about his life.

Recently, Jamie Foxx gave an update on a biopic he has been working on featuring “Iron” Mike. Known for doing Tyson impressions, Foxx has talked about creating something for a long time. It appears we are one step closer to him achieving his goal. Regarding the film, Foxx wants to get all aspects of Tyson.

“So I started hanging out with Mike Tyson so I got to see Mike in two different ways, two different lives,” Foxx would end up stating. “I saw him at the height of his career and then when things got bad, things got bumpy, I also saw him as well, so what I’m excited about the movie is to show those moments of the different Mike.”

Foxx then showed his physique, stating that he had done a workout of 60 pull-ups, 60 dips, and 100 press-ups. Starting from a young Tyson, Foxx will look to cover him from his time up top to his lowest of lows. A former heavyweight champion, Tyson respects all that Foxx is doing. He is just hoping that he can handle the pressure that comes with the role, internally and externally.

“He can do a great job I know that,” Tyson told The Sun. “I’m very grateful. I’m very excited about it. I’m gonna sit down and tell him the truth and he’s gonna have to learn to process that. It’s not going to be pretty.”

Making his debut in 1985 at 18, Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion at 20 in 1986 when he beat Trevor Berbick. He would become the lineal champion and has over 44 wins via knockout. Foxx will be looking into that, but there are also topics less light-hearted, like biting Evander Holyfield’s ear, his conviction and jail sentence in the early 90s, and more.

Tyson is currently working on making a boxing comeback. The 53-year-old will be looking to compete for charity. It is unknown as of this moment who he will be facing.
