Is Dos Santos-Jones at 205 A Possibility?
With a recent change in his diet, Junior dos Santos is looking at all options in front of him. That includes a different division.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion posted a slimmed-down photo of himself following a ketogenic diet. dos Santos (21-7) made himself better during a time when gyms are closed due to the coronavirus. After 15 days on a low-carb, high-fat diet, “Cigano” weighed in at 245.8 pounds.
Acho que a dieta cetogênica está funcionando, o que acharam?

His main goal, according to MMA Fighting, is 238. After that, the sky is the limit.
“My goal is to stay light so I can get back to training right away, when I have a fight booked,” dos Santos stated. “If I can stay around 238 and 242, that’s important for me, because I move a lot. I’ll benefit from my speed, one of my main characteristics. I will be faster.”
Joining the UFC in 2008, dos Santos beat Fabricio Werdum in his debut at UFC 90. He then went on a nine-fight win streak, winning the UFC Heavyweight Title from Cain Velasquez in 2011 in the process. After losing it to Velasquez, dos Santos has gone 6-5 in his last eleven. The 36-year-old is on a two-fight losing streak, with Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes both beating him by TKO.
If he can get his weight lower in a healthy way, dos Santos can make it to 205. A true test for him, dos Santos can see one contest at light heavyweight that would entice him to cut the weight.
“My main curiosity of one day making 205 is not about how I would feel at that weight, but to be able to face the man that is the greatest of the moment, Jon Jones,” dos Santos went on to say. “Who wouldn’t like to fight Jon Jones one day? I’m no different. One of the goals before I end my career would be to fight Jon Jones. But that’s part of the plans, our wishes, my dreams, so let’s see how things play out.”
Jones, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, has been teasing a move to heavyweight for a while. However, a run at a legend who would be coming to him might entice Jones to stay put.
