Is Kevin Holland Done With The UFC?
On Thursday, Kevin Holland abruptly announced that he had “retired.”
The UFC welterweight uploaded a picture to Instagram with the caption “Had a good run.” He even asked his followers what they thought should be his “next career choice.”
In a subsequent Instagram story, Holland added the phrase “Retired before 30.”
“Had a good run. 30 in a little over a month. Got paid, I’m out,” he wrote.
Holland said he received a good salary for the last-minute move at UFC 279 that put him up against Khamzat Chimaev on short notice.
A week before this revelation, he called for a fight with Stephen Thompson after losing what he described as a “grappling contest” with Chimaev.
Holland has a 23-8 record and one no-contest. With five victories in 2020, he now holds the UFC record for most victories in a single year.
