Is The UFC’s Dana White Interested In Bringing In Michael Chandler?

A few weeks ago, Michael Chandler started in his free agency by soundly defeating Benson Henderson. Now, the possibilities are endless for the three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion.

“Every single lightweight on the entire planet, you’re on notice,” Chandler would end up stating. “Scott Coker, you’re on the clock.”

While he has shown interest in re-signing with Bellator, Chandler (21-5) has stated that he is willing to give other promotions a shot at him. Would the UFC be interested in him? According to UFC President Dana White, he would look into the idea.

“I would love to meet with him,” White stated after UFC 252 when asked about Chandler, via MMA Fighting. “That guy’s earned it, I would love to meet with him.”

Chandler is now on a two-fight win streak and is 5-1 in his last six fights. Making his MMA debut in 2009, the NCAA silver medalist fought for Scott Coker’s Strikeforce before joining Bellator in 2010. He is 18-5 with the promotion and holds the record for wost wins (15) in the lightweight division. He is also tied (18) for most wins in Bellator history.

At Bellator 243, Chandler would go 2-0 against Henderson by hitting him with a flurry of shots in the first round to win via knockout.

This is not the first time he has been a free agent, as each time he has stayed with Bellator. Chandler is looking at all options, including a return to Bellator. It is unknown when he would make his decision.
