Isaac Cruz To Face Lamont Roach On December 6

WBC Interim Junior Welterweight Champion Isaac Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) is set to make his first title defense against Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1-2, 10 KOs), who will move up to 140, on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas.

Cruz enters into the fight with a convincing unanimous decision win over Omar Salcido in July. It was his second win on the spin since losing his WBA Junior Welterweight Title to Jose Valenzuela last August in a split decision loss. Roach, who still holds the WBA 130-pound title, is moving up to 140 for the first time.

Roach enters the fight with a majority draw with Gervonta Davis in March, a bout that most observers agreed Roach had won. The controversy stemmed from a pivotal moment in the ninth round when Davis took a voluntary knee but was not scored as a knockdown, a ruling that ultimately prevented Roach from getting the victory. This fight with Cruz is a direct result of Davis abandoning their planned rematch to pursue an exhibition with Jake Paul.
