Israel Adesanya Arrested At JFK Airport

The former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was stopped when he was trying to get back home.

Adesanya was reportedly arrested for alleged criminal possession of a weapon, according to TMZ Sports.

He was reportedly found with metal knuckles while going through security.

“Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage. When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item, and cooperated with authorities. He has complied accordingly, with that the matter was dismissed and he is on his way home,” said Adesanya’s manager to TMZ Sports.

The UFC star was arrested by the Port Authority Police Department near the American Airlines terminal just before 2 p.m.

Brass knuckles is a class A misdemeanor. They’re illegal to have in New York.

It’s unclear if Adesanya will receive any repercussions.

If he’s convicted, he could face up to one year in jail plus fines.

Adesanya suffered the second loss of his MMA career to kickboxing rival Alex Pereira. Adesanya said however that the war is not over.
