Israel Adesanya Finishes Paulo Costa To Retain UFC Title

Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa finally did battle.

On Saturday, September 26, Adesanya put the UFC Middleweight Championship on the line against Costa. The action was held inside the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. There was a lot of bad blood going into this bout and things were finally settled for the 185-pound gold. The bout headlined UFC 253.

Adesanya chewed up the lead leg of Costa with kicks throughout the opening frame. Costa went for his own kicks but he was being patient. Both men also had their share of taunting. Round one went to Adesanya.

“The Last Stylebender” went in for the kill in the second round. He landed a head kick, which split Costa open. He landed the jab and then a left hand that dropped Costa. Adesanya followed up with ground-and-pound for the TKO finish. It’s Adesanya’s second successful UFC Middleweight Title defense.
