Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya traded shots at each other, setting the stage for a potential showdown.
The quest to determine Adesanya’s next opponent was initially pinned on Dricus du Plessis after his win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290.
However, du Plessis suggested that he would not recover in time for the September 9th, 2023, date.
However, Strickland wasn’t one to miss his chance, as he was open to facing Adesanya. But problems over turnaround times and money may prevent the fight from happening.
Venting his frustration on Twitter, Strickland shared his side of the story: “UFC history: Sean fights this good guy on 2-day notice. ‘Sure.’
“Sean fights this guy we want to be the next big name in the top 5 if he beats you. ‘Sure.’ Sean, we might have you fly across the world on 5-week notice to fight the Chinese Champion. ‘Sure.’ LMAO,” Strickland
Adesanya, not one to shy away from confrontation, swiftly responded with the following comments.
Lol “5 weeks”. You been training since your last fight. We both fighting on short notice, you’re not doing nothing special, you dirty cunt.
