Israel Adesanya: I’m In Marvin Vettori’s Head Rent-Free

Israel Adesanya believes he’s in Marvin Vettori’s head.

Adesanya is expected to put his UFC Middleweight Title on the line against Vettori on June 12. This will be a rematch as Adesanya holds a unanimous decision victory over Vettori. That bout took place back in 2018.

In a new video posted on his YouTube channel, Adesanya gave his take on fighting Vettori a second time (h/t BJPenn.com).

“Well, I wanted to fight Rob after I saw him with Kelvin. Marvin’s like, ‘I want to go in October.’ Rob’s like, ‘I want to go in September.’ I’m like, ‘Look, I’m going in June. Whoever wants it, step up.’ The Italian stepped up, so kudos to him. But yeah, we already know.

“He’s holding onto that loss better than his best wins. So yeah, I’m in his head rent-free.”

Adesanya is hoping to rebound after failing to become a UFC “champ-champ.” He challenged Jan Blachowicz for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title in his last outing. Adesanya ended up losing the bout via unanimous decision. It’s his first loss as a pro MMA fighter.

As for Vettori, he hasn’t lost a fight since the defeat to Adesanya. He is riding a five-fight winning streak. in that span, he’s beaten Kevin Holland, Jack Hermansson, Karl Roberson, Andrew Sanchez, and Cezar Ferreira.
