Israel Adesanya Metal Knuckles Case To Be Dismissed
He will not face any legal action.
Israel Adesanya has been given relief from the court after he was arrested on November 17 for possessing metal knuckles at the airport. But he will have to stay out of trouble for a good few months to avoid a jail term.
The former UFC champion was allegedly trying to bring it through TSA airport security.
On Tuesday, the Stylebender was handed an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal (ACD) at a hearing. This means that he will not face any legal action for his November arrest as long as he maintains “good behavior” for six months.
The 33-year-old’s arrest came a few days after his only second loss only in the UFC, to longtime rival, Alex Pereira. He ended up losing the middleweight title to Pereira at UFC 281.
The former champ hasn’t yet commented on the matter, but his manager Tim Simpson, of Paradigm Sports, has claimed that the fighter was gifted the knuckles.
“Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage,” Simpson said. “When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item and cooperated with authorities. He has complied accordingly. With that, the matter was dismissed and he’s on his way home.”
