Israel Adesanya Thinks Jon Jones Is ‘Washed’

Israel Adesanya believes that Jon Jones has seen better days inside the Octagon.

It’s no secret that Adesanya and Jones aren’t chummy. Adesanya is the UFC Middleweight titleholder, while Jones is the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. The two have been trading barbs for over a year year and have even gotten personal with Jones bringing up Adesanya’s father and “The Last Stylebender” mentioning “Bones'” mother, who died back in 2017.

In terms of performances inside the Octagon are concerned, Adesanya thinks Jones has been slipping. Speaking to ESPN, Adesanya said that after seeing “Bones” fight live, he’s convinced that the former 205-pound ruler is fading (h/t MMAFighting.com).

“I’m about to do what he hasn’t done in over 10 years, which is jump up in weight. I didn’t go recycle all my old opponents and scrap them or find new lower-tier guys to fight. I just said, f*ck it, I’m a go up.

“So I’m gonna do what he hasn’t done in over 10 years, I’m gonna do it in just under three years. … I don’t know, it depends who his next fight is, but I’ve seen the guy live. You can look at his last five fights. Tell me he’s not washed.”

Many argue that Jones’ recent bouts have been closer or not as impressive as his prior outings. His fights with Dominick Reyes and Thiago Santos had some fans thinking “Bones” shouldn’t have had his hand raised. Jones is planning to move up to the heavyweight division after vacating his light heavyweight gold.

UFC President Dana White has said that Adesanya will receive the next shot at Jan Blachowicz’s UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.
