Israel Adesanya’s Coach On Jan Blachowicz: ‘We Slay Monsters’

Israel Adesanya’s coach has spoken out on a potential clash against Jan Blachowicz.

UFC President Dana White has said that Adesanya will get the next crack at Blachowicz’s UFC Light Heavyweight Title. After Glover Teixeira’s impressive submission finish over Thiago Santos, the UFC boss hasn’t exactly been as committed to Blachowicz vs. Adesanya. Still, Adesanya remains confident that he will ultimately get the next 205-pound title shot.

Appearing on Submission Radio, Adesanya’s coach, Eugene Bareman, said he feels Adesanya is prepared to dethrone Blachowicz (via MMAJunkie.com).

“What excites me is just the challenge of a great fighter like Jan. The challenge of going up a weight division. Just the whole challenge of trying to take on a task like that, another monumental task that I’m sure there are gonna be a lot of people that are gonna stack the chips against us. But it’s very motivating when you get a challenge like that. It’s very easy to pick myself up and pick my fighter up and pick my team up, because of the enormity and the challenge. Jan’s an absolute monster, but this is what we do: We slay monsters. That’s what we do for a living. That’s what excites me.”

Adesanya is the current UFC Middleweight Champion. He is fresh off a dominant second-round TKO victory over Paulo Costa for his second successful title defense.

Blachowicz captured the UFC Light Heavyweight gold on the same night as Adesanya vs. Costa. Blachowicz stopped Dominick Reyes in the second round via TKO to become the 205-pound king.
