“… It wasn’t my best because I wanted to take his whole head off but you learn, ya know? I’m just going to war and dropped him, he dropped me and I came up and showed my heart,” Chimaev said.
“You learn a lot of things from these fights and I’m happy for that.”
Both fighters went at it for all 15 minutes.
In the first round, Chimaev took him down but did not go to Burns’ guard.
In the second half of the first round, Chimaev changed the stance and dropped Burns via a right jab. But Burns came back dominated in the second round, served several knockdowns to the undefeated fighter and almost finished the fight just a few seconds before the second-round bell.
In the final round, Chimaev was relatively calm and was not going into unnecessary exchanges, using his reach advantage.
Chimaev earned his 11th victory and remained undefeated via a unanimous decision victory.
