Jack Catterall And Jose Ramirez To Take Legal Action Over Their WBO Rankings
Jack Catterall and Jose Ramirez will soon be in action, but not in the ring. The boxers are likely to have instructed their lawyers to take legal action against the new super lightweight rankings.
According to the latest WBO rankings, the new entrant, Teofimo Lopez, is ranked behind Liam Paro as No.2.
As a result, Paro and Lopez are lined up for a chance to take the vacant world title. Michael Benson was the first to break this news on Twitter.
“Catterall and Ramirez (WBO no.3 and no.4) have told their lawyers to contest the new super-lightweight rankings. As per the rankings, Paro and Lopez will contest for the vacant world title. WBO has assured both the parties that they will listen to their arguments before making a decision,” Benson tweeted.
Catterall has been in the news since producing one of his greatest-ever performances against Josh Taylor.
In a match where he was considered to be a massive underdog, ‘El Gato’ proved everyone wrong. According to the viewers, they had never seen Taylor fail to execute his punches consistently as the Scot struggled for form in his own backyard.
The win was awarded to Taylor, but the experts felt that Catterall was robbed off a clear win via split decision.
