Jack Catterall Responds To Bob Arum Offering Jose Zepeda Fight
Jack Catterall is aware of a potential offer from Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum.
Catterall is the mandatory WBO Light-Welterweight Title contender. Jose Ramirez holds the WBO and the WBC gold. Top Rank is hoping to book a massive title unification bout between Ramirez and WBA (Super) and IBF Champion Josh Taylor. The WBO has given Ramirez a 120-day window to fight Catterall.
Arum recently made it clear that the plan is still to partner with Queensberry Promotions so that Ramirez vs. Taylor becomes a reality. Arum said he’s prepared to offer Catterall a bout with Jose Zepeda, who is coming off a “Fight of the Year” candidate against Ivan Baranchyk.
Speaking to BoxingScene.com, Catterall had a response for Arum.
“Send the numbers over then (to) MTK Global.”
Catterall went on to say that he puts full trust in MTK Global for his next move.
“I’m excited to be in all these future fights. I’m mandatory for Ramirez’s WBO world title and I have faith in my management (at) MTK that they will do what is best for my career. I thought Zepeda-Baranchyk was an entertaining fight. Again, I’d love to be involved in these type of fights. I’m ready to prove myself at this level when the opportunity presents itself. I’m excited to get my hands on my world title. MTK are in talks to secure the best possible route for me. I’m confident they will deliver and when they do I’ll be ready for anyone at 140 pounds, period!”
Up to this point, Catterall has amassed a perfect pro boxing record of 25-0. His most recent outing was back on November 22, 2019. He defeated Timo Schwarzkopf via unanimous decision. Zepeda has a record of 33-2, 2 NC. The only losses in Zepeda’s career have come against Jose Ramirez and Terry Flanagan. He’s riding a three-fight winning streak.
