Jack-Cleverly Winner Must Negotiate with Bivol

WBA “regular” Light Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly has received special permission from the boxing organization to defend his title against Badou Jack on Aug. 26 as part of the undercard for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor.

The British boxer and his team were notified back on July 27 that he must defend the title against the mandatory challenger – the undefeated WBA champion at 175 lbs., Dmitry Bivol. The WBA Championship Committee has granted permission for the Cleverly-Jack bout; however, the winner must begin negotiations for a title bout with Bivol.

If no deal is reached before Sept. 11, the fight will be called to purse bids.
